Seeking psychotherapy can be a difficult process for some people and in order for you to feel more informed about the process and my practice I would like to share some information with you. I received my doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Loyola College in Baltimore, Maryland. Over the course of my career, I have provided therapy and assessment for adolescents and adults in a variety of settings including community mental health centers and college counseling centers. I completed my pre-doctoral internship training in the Counseling Center at the Catholic University of America. Problems such as depression, relationship difficulties/conflict, eating disorders, anxiety disorders, adjustment disorders, and sexual concerns brought clients to the center. After my internship training, I worked as a mental health therapist at the Sheppard Pratt Center for Eating Disorders. I conducted groups and individual therapy with children, adolescents, and adults who were suffering from anorexia, bulimia, binge-eating disorder and other forms of disordered eating.
In my work with clients I use a collaborative approach to help them determine how to increase their happiness and fulfillment. Together we discuss the changes they need to make in order to improve their lives and the underlying issues that led to their present difficulties. I typically work from an Integrative model, which utilizes the beliefs and techniques from a variety of theoretical backgrounds, depending on the needs and desires of my clients. My interventions often have strong Cognitive-Behavioral underpinnings, which has been supported by research as a validated treatment for a variety of mental health conditions.
