Dr. Marla McMahon is a clinical psychologist and a certified yoga teacher. She completed her doctorate in clinical psychology in 1996 at CSPP/Alliant University in San Diego, CA. and has been working in the field of psychology for the last 17 years. In addition, after being a yoga student since the late 1990's, she completed her yoga teacher training at Yandara Yoga Institute in 2013.

As a Clinical Psychologist, Dr. Marla McMahon works with her clients on gaining new perspectives, restoring balance, and increasing well-being in their lives. She uses a holistic, integrative approach to psychotherapy incorporating mindfulness, cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, acceptance therapy and health psychology tailored for individual needs. After reviewing a person's unique factors of past and present concerns, she incorporates mind-body awareness to increase their sense of well-being, decrease stress, and improve their confidence to handle life's challenges.

Areas of Expertise
Dr. McMahon's practice includes a focus on women's issues, health psychology, wellness, adolescent development, and cross cultural issues. She works with men and women going through a variety of concerns such as stress conditions, emotional eating, depression, anxiety, trauma, and relationship problems. She also counsels those dealing with life transitions, trauma (PTSD) histories, post-partum depression, fertility & pregnancy issues, adoption, and parenting. Other interests that she has includes: natural approaches to depression and stress management, healthy living, as well as emotional impacts of nutrition and health.

Office Information:

Dr. McMahon is only on AETNA insurance panel. She will provide a billing statement to submit to other insurance companies for direct patient reimbursement. Dr. McMahon will also fill out any additional forms needed to help the patient receive reimbursement.

As every insurance plan is different it would be important for the patient to determine his/her benefit plan prior to the first appointment.

Dr. McMahon offers a sliding fee/reduced rate for therapy sessions for college, graduate students and those struggling with economic issues.
