I received my Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota and was licensed as a psychologist in California in 1983. As an experienced therapist, psychologist, and couples counselor, I have treated varied and sometimes difficult problems faced by individuals, couples, and families. A careful assessment is made at the beginning of therapy and together we develop an individualized and specific plan which combines direction, compassion, and a belief in our ability to make positive changes.
Sometimes therapy goals involve acceptance, sometimes they involve change, and we always strive for greater understanding of self and others. Each session, guided by specific therapy goals, is interactive, collaborative, and respectful.

Areas of Expertise
In my work with couples, I generally use a combination of emotion-focused therapy and behavioral change practices. I am comfortable working with people in recovery from addictions, including sex addiction. I have experience working with couples where there is infidelity and affairs, and I have helped them find a way back from the pain of betrayal.
In my work with individuals, I generally use a combination of cognitive-behavioral and minfulness-based practices. These approaches help you identify and work with your thoughts, feelings and behavior so that you not only feel better but also live better.
