I received my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Tennessee in 1970 and have been licensed to practice psychology in CA since 1972. I have specialized in the practice of police and forensic psychology since 1978. I am currently the President-Elect of the American Board of Police and Public Safety Psychology (ABPPSP), an ABPP specialty board, and was the original National Chair of Examinations (2011-2014). My police psychology practice is limited to consultation in litigation-related matters involving use of deadly force, and police psychology standards of practice.
My forensic psychology practice involves court-appointed and retained (prosecution and defense) evaluations, reports and testimony in fitness to proceed, mental state at the time of an offense, factors in mitigation, risk of reoffense, threat assessment, psychological factors in deadly force confrontations and mentally disordered offender (PC 2962). I have qualified as an expert in more than 15 California jurisdictions.
