I have been a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in the State of California since 1999, although I have been working in various capacities in this field for over 20 years. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from UC Irvine, and my Master’s degree and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from DePaul University in Chicago.
In my career, I have worked with adults, adolescents, and children in a wide variety of settings, from outpatient clinics to residential treatment centers. Currently, I’m in solo private practice.
My therapeutic approach focuses very much on the here-and-now. While events in your past certainly played some role in your present distress, the past can not be changed. I believe the primary goal of psychotherapy is to teach you the tools you need to change the current patterns that are causing you problems. I also have special training and experience working with children and adolescents. While the techniques used with youths are obviously different from those used with adults, the goal remains the same: to provide the tools that will bring about positive change.
