I am a practicing forensic and clinical psychologist with over 20 years experience. I graduated from the University of Kansas in 1993 and completed my internship at the Reno, VA hospital. Since being licensed as a psychologist in California, I have worked in various settings including corrections, large HMO (Kaiser), private practice, and college counseling center.

I provide psychological assessments and counseling for forensic, educational, immigration, diagnostic, and treatment purposes. My forensic practice consists of criminal, immigration, civil and fitness for duty or pre-employment evaluations. I work with juvenile and adult clients. I also provide treatment for individuals and families involved in legal proceedings and may be court ordered to receive counseling or treatment as part of their plea bargain or case resolution.

I work with adult and juvenile courts and have expertise in addressing issues of dangerousness (violence and sexual) risk assessments, Insanity evaluations, competency to stand trial/waive miranda, false confessions, mitigation, and fitness (707) evaluations. In addition to criminal forensic psychology, I also have a speciality of immigration evaluations, including hardship, political asylum, domestic violence, competency to participate in immigration proceedings, presence of learning/cognitive disorder or mental illness diagnosis. Additionally, I can also do treatment, diagnostic, learning disability, gate eligibility, employment evaluations for corrections and law enforcement applicants.

I provide counseling and coaching to couples, individuals, and families. I enjoy providing therapy and use a solution-focused approach to help you deal with depression, PTSD, marital conflict, divorce, grief, and medical diagnoses. I enjoy working with people whose life is complicated by legal or medical problems. I provide counseling for individuals struggling with internet pornography addiction.

I have worked for the California Youth Authority where I helped start the sex offender treatment program at the Stockton facility. I have worked at Kaiser with a general clinical caseload where I saw adolescents, couples, and individuals. I speak Punjabi and have a strong interest in working with culturally diverse clients.

I have been qualified as a psychological expert in various counties including Sacramento, San Joaquin, Butte, Yolo, and Placer. I have provided expert testimony in many types of criminal and immigration cases.

Additionally, I have participated in the test development for the jurisprudence exam in California and served as an oral examiner. I am currently president of the Forensic Division of Sacramento Valley Psychological Association.
