Dr. Jim Roche is director of RelatedMinds Counselling Services in Burnaby and Vancouver, British Columbia. He holds an Ma in Family Therapy (Vermont College) doctorate in Clinical Psychology (Union of Experimenting Colleges and Universities), a doctorate in Law (CUNY School of Law) as well as a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies (CAGS-Norwich University) in Educational Psychology.

He has worked as a forensic psychologist for New York State, acted as the state's expert witness in criminal and civil cases and has directed the APA internship program at Kirby Forensic Psychiatric Hospital. Previously he has held academic positions with New York University, Norwich University, Brooklyn College and was a Clinical Instructor in the Department of Psychiatry at New York University Medical Center. He has also worked as a consultant to the US Department of Defense in the area of soldier and family support services.

In addition to his BC Registration as a psychologist he is a member of the Canadian Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology (CRHSPP) and holds licenses/registration as a Family Therapist (RMT),Independent Clinical Social Worker (Wisconsin), Clinical Membership in AAMFT and in BC he is listed with the British Columbia Mediator Roster Society (Civil Mediator Roster).

RelatedMinds provides you with a range of counselling, therapy, clinical and forensic services available in English, Japanese and Chinese. We provide a variety of services including counselling, cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), behaviour interventions for children, work-place consultation,risk assessments and forensic services.

We provide neuropsychological assessments for provincial government programs and provide ACT approved assessment services for children with autism. Family assessments and evaluations for court related purposes are also available.

We bill at the suggest rates of the BC Psychological Association.
Psychological services are usually reimbursable through extended health.

We have offices located in Vancouver, Burnaby and Coquitlam. Counselling services are sometimes covered by extended health care, and a sliding scale is available for those with limited incomes


Working with local health care providers we try to provide a seemless set of services including psychoeducational and workplace assessments. Our associates include Registered Psychologists, Family Therapists, School Psychologists and Speech Pathologists.

Dr. Roche is an approved ACT provider of services for individuals with autism and Asperger's Disorder.
