Dr. Ainslie works with individuals, couples and families and draws on patient histories and understandings of life events to direct the course of therapy and assessment.
Dr. Ainslie completed her postdoctoral fellowship at the Central Texas Veterans Health Care System where she treated Veterans who struggled with substance use, posttraumatic stress disorder, childhood traumas, depression, anxiety, chronic pain, and medical problems. Before starting her fellowship, she completed an American Psychological Association (APA) approved internship at the Central Texas Veterans Health Care System where she worked in the Primary Care/Behavioral Medicine clinic, Posttraumatic Stress Disorder Clinic, and the Mental Health Clinic. She completed her doctorate from the APA Accredited program at Our Lady of the Lake University and obtained a Masters of Education in Counseling degree at the University of Texas at Austin. She also attended the University of Texas at Austin as an undergraduate where she obtained her Bachelors degree in Psychology.
Her current research interests involve Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, Psychological Trauma, Veterans, Substance Use, and Immigration. In addition to clinical and research work, she is active in the American Psychological Association Divisions for Counseling Psychology, Military Psychology, Psychology of Women, Psychoanalysis, and Trauma. She is also a member of the Texas Psychological Association and the San Antonio Society for Psychoanalytic Study.
